Mannerheim’s War Home
In 1913, Commercial Counselor David Pulkkinen built a magnificent stone building, later known as Graniittitalo, at the foot of the steps leading up to the city church. The building contained three elegant apartments, one of which was owned by Dr. V. Dahlström. It was rented to Commander-in-Chief Mannerheim. He lived there from the fall of 1941 to the winter of 1944. Mannerheim’s apartment was located on the second floor on the Hallituskatu side.
The building is not open to the public.
